Chainsaws Were Singing
“Texas Chainsaw Massacre” meets “Monty Python” meets…”Les Miserables”.
The film, which premiered at last year’s HÕFF and went on to win the hearts of audiences at around a hundred film festivals around the world, will have one of its last public screenings at HÕFF before going live on streaming platforms. The special screening will be a chance to say thank you to the fans and to reminisce about a crazy year that has brought the film and its makers devoted fans from home, Australia, North America, South America, Asia, and even Africa.
More than 10 years in the making, this genre extravaganza has warmed the hearts of festival crowds around the world. Now for the first time, PÖFF is proud to host its first ever Tallinn screening.
“Chainsaws Were Singing” is a shameless action-horror-comedy-musical, with a simple story: newly found lovers are separated by a chainsaw wielding maniac which kicks off a series of insane adventures.
The film was made for midnight crowds and makes every effort to entertain. Fun, over the top kills and buckets of blood? Check! A story of true love and friendship? Check! Chainsaw solo? But of course. Cars that explode out of the blue, gunshots and car races? Well yeah. Killer pikes, singing rats and flying babies? Yep. Pervy incest twins, a lesbian hedgehog and a supernatural bukkake-fridge? Yeah, let’s just move on…
Anyway, the point is – as someone who passionately hates slow artsy cinema, director Sander Maran makes sure to pack every punch imaginable into this fever dream of a movie which has already been described in several reviews as a cult classic in the making.
