The legendary character from Finnish mythology blessed the 18th HÕFF with a sold out opening ceremony.

The leading actress of the opening film "Sampo" (1959), Eve Kivi, greeted the audience on the blood-red carpet. Anniikki in "Sampo" was the first major film role for soon-to-be 85 year old film star. The ceremony was hosted by Mart Sander.

Before the ceremony, a horror bicycle tour "Tour d'ÖÖ bewitched the quiet resort town of Haapsalu.

A rare orginal poster of "Sampo" was sold at charity auction for 400 euros. This was the intro for saturday's big auction for Ukraine. The money will be donated to Estonian Rescue Association - a reliable partner of rescue workers in the war.

Winny Puhh, the Estonian craziest punk band performed an opening song "Rambo" with children's choir. They also gave a live concert at the afterparty at Kuursaal.
