As always, there will be plenty of night-time hideouts for every Wolf also this year. We invite film lovers, most probably shaken by their film impressions, to the cosy bars and clubs on our Night Zone A list both in the Old Town and in the Telliskivi Creative City area. Hang your wolf coat on the rack of the official festival club Naganaga, or pop into the cool jazzy Philly Joe, the eclectic and exciting club Kauplus Aasia, or the stylish Junimperium bar at Telliskivi.

PÖFF's hospitality coordinator Indrek Migur recommends:

As a much-needed alternative for all the neatly designed and overpriced bars located in the Old Town, the bar NagaNaga offers a laidback atmosphere mixed with great food (tip - Priidu's kimchi is a must for lovers of spicy things!), intelligent music selection, delicious drinks and one of the most colourful crowd that you can find in Tallinn.

The bar’s design itself is made up of weird and wonderful decor elements, which perfectly conveys the venturous aesthetical taste and the do-it-yourself mentality of the group of friends running NagaNaga. As a hugely popular meeting place for the locals, it is also a venue for several happenings, for example, film- and music trivia events and occasional parties lasting long into the night.

Actor Mait Malmsten recommends:

I have ended up in this little nest so many times that I have to admit: I apparently like the place. I enjoy myself here thanks to the cosy atmosphere and the nice people. By today, everyone is used to immediate communication at dining and drinking venues and this place is no exception. However, what you can’t get in other spots, are the extraordinary drinks straight from the copper pipes of Junimperium! I assure you that these flavours are worth tasting! And a bonus – the gentle aroma of local oils gives the drinks a new breathing! Emotional aftertastes are guaranteed! I think you should pop by.

 Visual artist Kiyoshi Stelzner recommends:

The shabby exterior is a true understatement. Located close to Telliskivi but offering the vibe of another planet there is a hidden gem of Estonian underground culture.

Entering through the backyard you will find yourself in an idyllic garden with big trees and a food truck that serves the most authentic Thai food in the city.

The inside more than keeps the promise the outside gives. The heart of Kauplus Aasia is a custom-made sound system. It‘s heartbeat brings pure energy alive and is the essential basis for high end DJ bookings, bands or experimental music performances. This place is meant to massively influence the Estonian electronical music culture for the next years.

Asutuse sisemus korvab välisilme rohkem kui küllaga. Kauplus Aasia südameks on rätsepatööna valminud helisüsteem. Selle pulseeriv rütm äratab ellu puhta energia ja see siin on põhiline koht, kuhu kogunevad kõrgema taseme DJ-d, bändid või eksperimentaalmuusikud. Võib olla kindel, et see koht avaldab lähiaastatel eesti elektroonilise muusika kultuurile tohutut mõju.

Vabaduse väljak 10

Jazz pianist and composer Kristjan Randalu recommends:

At first glance, Philly Joe’s is just a cosy cellar bar with the best location and authentic live music.

But in reality, Philly Joe’s is the home and centre of Estonian jazz music. Here you can feel the pulse of new music and keep yourself up to date with what is currently going on and what is coming to the major stages. And it is also the venue for all the international performers who come here on their concert tours.

DJ duo HOL recommends:

Kampus is our number one! We probably don’t even know another place where it would be nice absolutely anytime. The atmosphere there is ideal for both daytime business lunches and simply hanging out at night.

Of course, indecisive people like us may at times find it rather frustrating that Kampus has 3 different kitchens – KAUSS, Uulits and the Chef’s Corner –, because we naturally always want everything at once! Our heart of hearts, though, belongs to crispy shrimps in Kataifi crust and the bacon and salted caramel burger! And our high praise goes to the Kampus cocktails which can be enjoyed late into the night. We dare even claim that you cannot get better ones anywhere in Tartu!
