HÕFF’s Estonian Genre Film Competition
To continue the tradition of Estonian Film Competition we started two years ago, we will continue presenting Estonian genre films. Best Estonian Film will be chosen by a jury consisting of Haapsalu’s young film enthusiasts.

Little Nightmares. Best International Short Films
The out-of-competition showcase of the most interesting short form horror and fantasy films. A whirlpool of fantasy, cosmic sci-fi and chilling horror, the programme offers something for all tastes.

Méliès D'Argent Short Film Competition
Named after the legendary film illusionist Georges Méliès, the winner of this European short genre film competition will be awarded by the Méliès d’Argent. The winner goes on to compete for the coveted Méliès d’Or by the Méliès International Festivals Federation (MIFF).

HÕFF Retro
A feel-good guarantee of up to 8 films including Estonian classics, Soviet oddities and forgotten B-films from all over the world.

HÕFF For Freaks
Not for the faint-hearted. The freak film programme finds the funniest and scariest no-budget masterpieces, highlights overlooked gems and films that are rarely seen at cinemas. Up to 3 films.

HÕFF Special Screenings
Rare or otherwise noteworthy films that we believe deserve their moment in the spotlight.

Õudne Eesti. Fresh Estonian Short Films
Estonian fantasies. The best fantasy shorts by amazing young filmmakers. The participants of the Best Estonian Genre Film Competition.

HÕFF Family Films
You don´t like horror? Perfect! Festival offers much more – even children´s films to enjoy with the whole family.

Opening Ceremony and Opening Film
HÕFF’s festive opening ceremony with an opening film — a symbolic start to the festival.

Award Ceremony and Closing Film
The festive event includes the awards ceremony and the festival’s closing film — traditionally a good old action flick.
