In an alternative reality where the Cold War did not end, Soviet Kazakhstan has been struck by an atomic bomb. Thanks to the ‘exposure’ economy created, Sonja Schmidt is persuaded by hip culture mogul Dino Davis to accompany a rebel journalistic expedition to a joint Soviet/American military base that monitors a Kazakh radioactive zone rumoured to be rife with irradiated centaurs.
